SCANDAL ROCKS THE GRINDERS

Posted Thu Jan 10, 2008 - 08:06 AM

Under the media shadow of Roger Clemen's interview on 60 minutes the BGBA front office has been scrambling to keep information of rules violation under wraps. In a memo posted by the league late last month.....
"....Also for those that have gotten their shirts and are paid in full, thank you. Those of you that are still carrying a balance I need the cash before the end of the year or your team will forfeit any game you participate in after January 1st."
As of Friday 1/3 there where 3 teams with players in violation, all 3 teams had those players in their games on the 3rd.
The league is still unsure if it will strip the points from the teams that won that night while using ineligible players. The GM's have been encouraged to contact league accountants to verify the status of their rosters before the start of this weeks games.

NEW YEAR....NEW TEAM

Posted Thu Jan 03, 2008 - 07:48 AM

With the new year came the rumor of the first trade of the young season. The White Shadows and Head of Steam where reportedly in heavy negotiations over the holiday break. Information on the players involved in the trade started to surface early Wednesday morning. The league office responded simply by stating that the Board of Directors and the Players Association where reviewing the deal and would announce their rulings sometime Thursday before tip-off.

The Board and P.A. have agreed to allow the transaction.

While the financial details of the deal where not released the White Shadows have agreed to give up their starting small forward Chris "lenny" Lenhardt for the rights to Head of Steams backup forward Tim "the disgruntled" Blest. While Blest has been unavailable for the first 4 weeks of the season, he has proven to be a force in the paint in the past. Lenny on the other hand has been a role player on the winless Shadow team and will be immediately inserted into to starting lineup with team scoring leader, Dave Perreault, out due to illness.

In other league news, Keith Smith has appealed his suspension and will be available to play in this weeks game. A date for the hearing has not been announced but is expected to be sometime in late May of 2008.

The league office has also announced that any team with players participating in tonights games that have not paid for their jerseys, will be forced to forfeit the contest. All managers are encouraged to contact the comish to clarify who still owes.

Good luck and Happy New Years.

HOLIDAY NOTES

Posted Tue Dec 18, 2007 - 05:36 AM

Just a couple of things to mention before we head into the holiday break. We have had some great games and very little drama, the perfect start to our third season.

The one thing we are still lacking is participation outside of the games. Again it is the same handful of people handling the bulk of the responsibilities; set-up and breakdown, score sheets etc. Each team is responsible for having at least one person available to keep book for one of the two games they are not playing in. Everyone likes looking up their stats and trash talking about them, but without some more help I'll be forced to stop posting them.

Also for those that have gotten their shirts and are paid in full, thank you. Those of you that are still carrying a balance I need the cash before the end of the year or your team will forfeit any game you participate in after January 1st.

And finally team pictures will be taken this thursday (12/20). If you have your shirt wear it, I will have the extras with me for those that missed last week.

Happy Holidays and good luck to everyone in the new year.

SCHOOL CANCELLATIONS

Posted Thu Dec 13, 2007 - 06:30 AM

Captains will be notified and the site updated by 5pm if games are to be postponed. If games are canceled due to school closings, that week will be made up at the end of the season.

OPENING NIGHT

Posted Wed Nov 28, 2007 - 03:08 PM

With less than 24 hours before tipoff, a couple of reminders.
1. Jerseys will not be ready for the first game, so please remember to wear your team color. Poke=Green Psaradelis=White Sampson=Red Hearn=Black Paul=Grey Reed=Blue.
2. Only a few people have come up with the $15. That is due before the jerseys will be issued.
3. $5 per team @the game for the scorekeeper.
4. Need 2 volunteers to keep the books for the 8pm game
5. Do not show up at the school before 5:45pm (if we keep taking advantage of the ladies that let us in, we will end up gettin' the boot)
Last but not least, come in with a good attitude and lets have some fun. The post game beers will be consumed at Tully's
See you all on the court.
