Buffalo Grinders Basketball - BGB

The historians have gotten together to rewrite history. They have concluded that the first organized play of what would eventually be called Grinders basketball happened in the small gym at the Catholic Academy on Delaware ave. Buffalo in the fall of 2002. Hence making this the 10th anniversary season. We have had our ups and downs but after the dust has settled I think we can all agree that it has been fun.

The draft was held at the open run last week. The divisions, teams and first half of the schedule are up on the site. Send me a quick email if there are any conflicts that need to be addressed. If anyone could get emails from the new guys from last year and this session it would help with schedules, changes and uniform colors each week.

The 2011 fall draft is complete and the teams are updated on the site. There are a few new guys playing this session. Make them feel welcome. We also have a new manager, Cole has taken over team Walters, first order of business was to change the team name to ShowTime. A few noticeable players will be missing this session so each team has at least 4 regulars and 1 some-timer. Please keep in contact with each other so we can avoid the need for subs from other teams in order to get games in.

Hearn and Perreault have secured a donation that should help with jerseys. As far as the fee, we will just stick with covering the balance on getting jerseys and call it a day.

Grinders league office officially announced on 8/31/09 that the ".... and the TIME" franchise has changed hands. New owner/manager Vincent Terrana is a league veteran and will take control of day to day operations immediately. With an active off season in the free agent market, he is getting a late start. It is understood that the team name will change prior to the start of the 2009/2010 fall session.

In other league news, the 09/10 draft will take place later this week. The season will officially start on October 1st. Any past player that has not notified the league office of intent to play this season needs to do so before Thursday 9/3/09 or risk being left off the available player list for this sessions draft.

Full schedules and draft results will be posted this weekend.

An unnamed league source stated today that the 4:20's have signed an undrafted free agent late last night. It is understood that they plan on playing him in this weeks game. When called for comment, team manager and league commissioner simply stated..."you will all just have to wait and see!?"
It is believed that the signing is in response to the loss of their #1 pick last week.
