The quarterfinals took place last week, and both games were very competitive. The first game of the quarters pitted the White Shadows against the Head of Steam. Both team were hit by the injury bug, as the White Shadows were without their leading scorer Scott, and the Steam were without their glue guy Zach. The first half was very close, as both teams had a lead at some point in the half. The Head of Steam went on a run to open the second half to open a lead that they would keep for the rest of the game. The Steam ended up victorious 28-21. Mike picked up some of the scoring missed by Scott as he had 9pts, 5rbs. Eric also chipped in with 5pts for the Shadows. Perreault lead the second half run for the Steam and finished with a solid sat line (9pts, 4asts, 7rbs). The second quarters match was a tale of two halves. The Chokers came out on fire, while the Bricklayers came out flat. The Chokers used solid defense to open up a six point lead at the half. However, the Bricklayers never gave up, and came out playing inspired ball in the second half. Lead by Witt and Dennis, the Bricklayers stormed back to win 22-20. Witt ended up with 16pts (43 shots though), 15 rbs, and Benson played an amazing second half, using his hustle to spark the comeback. Soluri shot the ball well (6/13) for the Chokers, and Justin & Hearn combined for 10pts, 12rbs for the Chokers as well. The Semi-Finals are tonight, and both match ups are sure to be instant Grinders classics, as both games are re-matches from the final week of the regular season. The first game matches up the 2nd seed After School Specials Vs 3rd seed Head of Steam. The night cap features the #1 seed 40 Minutes of Hell Vs 5th seed Bricklayers.
